Welcome to the Tokyo Ball Hockey League
Ball Hockey is a game that everybody can play. All you need is a pair of running shoes and a hockey stick and you are ready to go. If you are a beginner to hockey, it gives you a chance to learn the game without worrying about learning to skate and if you are a veteran of the game of hockey, it gives you the opportunity to improve you fitness level while continuing to play the great game of hockey.
Ball Hockey is truly a sport that has many benefits and there are many levels to play. It can be recreational with friends, to organized league , which can qualify you for regional tournaments, or you can play at a higher level in national tournaments that can lead you to play for your country at the world championships where you will find scouts who are always looking for players to play in professional ball hockey leagues in Europe.
Ball Hockey in Asia is still in its infancy but since 2008, the sport has been growing rapidly. Korea has two leagues going, Hong Kong played in the 2009 World Championships and placed 12th in the world, Thailand attracted new teams from different countries for the annual Mekong Cup (Asia oldest ball hockey tournament), Tokyo has hosted two very successful
YAMATO CUP international ball hockey tournaments that is generating a lot of interest locally and overseas. The sport is still growing with China who will be sending both a mens team and womens team to the 2011 World Championships. With all this growth, the president of the International Street and Ball Hockey Federation is coming to ASIA in 2010 to see what all the excitement is all about and to help keep the momentum that has been generated.
In May 2009, the Tokyo Ball Hockey League (TBHL) was born and is working hard to be a model for future leagues in Japan. Become a pioneer of ball hockey in Japan and join one of our leagues today!!!
